Antalya Old City Tour (Half day)
Tour Description:
You will be met at Antalya harbour, airport of Antalya or at your Hotel in Antalya. First we visit to inhabited. Attalos II, King of Pergamon, was believed to have founded the city around 150 BC, naming it Attalia and selecting it as a naval base for his powerful fleet. Stopping at Hadrian's Gate, or hadrianus Gate, or Uckapilar "The Three Gates" in Turkish) is a triumphal arch which was built in the name of the Roman emperor Hadrian, who visited Antalya in the year 130. It has three arched gates, the Clock Tower at Kalekapisi, Republic Square with its dramatic statue and excellent views of the Mediterranean coast and the distant Olympos Mountains. After Visiting Clock Tower we will visit the Kesik Minare (Broken Minaret) standing in the streets of Kaleici (Old Antalya) in Turkey was originally built as a Roman temple in the 2nd century AD. In the 7th century, it was converted into a Byzantine church in honor of the Virgin Mary, but it was heavily damaged in 8th century during the Arab invasions. In the 10th century it was repaired again. Descending from the square, you explore the narrow, winding streets of historic Old Antalya (Kaleici), filled with graceful Ottoman era houses and gardens. Return and get our bus and Last stop is the fine Antalya Museum, as a museum exhibiting exambles of work which illuminate the history of the Mediterranean and Pamphylia regions in Anatolia, Antalya Museum is one of the most important of Turkey's museums. The Museum won the “European Council Special Prize" in 1988 which is somewhat out of the city center and easiest to visit on a tour. the forceful natural waterfalls truly displayed the fortune bestowed on Turkey with the abundant amounts of water. At nearly every waterfall you can find places to relax and many restaurants where you can refresh yourself. The people of Antalya organize elaborate picnics, at weekends, with grilled foods and drinks and enjoy this time with their friends, family and pets under the shade of the beautiful trees. Afterwards, you drive back to Harbour, Airport or your hotel in Antalya. (No Lunch offered)
